How Does The Remote Glucose Monitoring System Work?

The iGlucose system works quickly, extracting readings from one blood droplet to analyze blood sugar levels. Each device is preconfigured and ready to use, without any complicated set-up instructions or integrations that can be a barrier for many patient demographics.

Each reading is transmitted to the clinician or care delivery team automatically and uses secure cellular transmissions to ensure data is protected from unauthorized visibility and cannot be affected by unstable internet connections.

Patient readings are imported into the virtual care platform, the reviewer is notified, and automatic flags are raised should any aspect of the measurements signify a medical emergency or data that falls outside of the safe or usual range for the patient.

Applications for the Wanda Health iGlucose RPM System

Monitoring glucose levels is the predominant way to introduce proactive patient monitoring for those with type 1 or 2 diabetes. Still, in many other use cases, it is also essential to ensure clinicians are immediately notified when blood sugar falls into a high-risk zone. You can read more about RPM for Diabetes here

Our clients use the iGlucose system and the included testing strips for:

  • Gestational diabetes, supporting patients experiencing insulin resistance during any stage of pregnancy.

  • Obesity and weight-related conditions where medical professionals need to assess how medications or lifestyle advice are improving patient readings.

  • Kidney disease and associated conditions, ensuring that a patient’s glycemic index remains within an acceptable range, or informing ongoing treatment protocols.

  • Care for older citizens, where dietary, health, or age-associated factors make glucose monitoring important for ongoing supervision.

Wanda Health collaborates with a broad range of partners, with iGlucose monitors currently in use across diabetologists focusing on diabetes management, geriatric and older people’s community care teams, primary care practitioners, other medical professionals, research analysts, and healthcare authorities.

Our Other RPM Devices

Alongside advanced iGlucose monitoring systems for RPM, Wanda Health offers several other equally advanced devices, ideal for care delivery where patients present with multiple conditions, comorbidities, or symptoms, allowing a holistic overview of patient health.

  • iPulseOx: our pulse oximeters track pulse rates and blood oxygen saturation, delivering accurate readings to assist with care management for patients with respiratory conditions or diseases such as lung cancer, heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

  • iScale: digital weighing scales are used in diverse scenarios where a patient’s weight is a contributing factor, either due to a need to increase caloric intake to support elevated demands on metabolic energy or to help with a managed weight loss regime.

  • iBlood Pressure: blood pressure cuffs and devices are deployed to patients with a range of conditions, including congestive heart failure and hypertension, tracking blood pressure to indicate when an intervention is necessary. See our remote blood pressure monitors.

We provide complimentary demonstrations of any or all of our RPM devices, as well as the Wanda Health virtual care platform, designed as an intuitive interface to increase engagement between clinicians and patients and display information in an accessible way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Patient Groups Is the iGlucose RPM Monitor Suitable For?

The glucose testing device and the other equipment within each unit are intended for accessible use by patients of any age, location, health condition, or ability without any need to pair the device with Wi-Fi connections, create tailored settings or read lengthy instructions.

A patient can simply open the box and unpack the contents and begin using the device to take control of their condition, with a single, one-button press design and large-scale fonts displayed on a backlit screen, suitable for patients with visibility impairments.

Each testing kit is lightweight and packs away into a carry case – it can be brought with the patient while travelling, ensuring no interruptions in monitoring, and is easy to carry with an in-built portable handle.

Can the iGlucose Monitor Be Used in Conjunction With Other RPM Devices?

Yes, we routinely work with medical practices and hospitals that implement RPM to reach a broader group of patients and offer cost-effective care at scale without expecting patients to attend multiple appointments per month for their glucose readings to be taken.

Many practices dispatch one, two, or more RPM devices to one patient. The benefit is that where there are several potential symptoms that could indicate a need for a change in medication, diet, care, or lifestyle, a wider overview of the patient’s well-being provides clinicians with a greater depth of information to make informed decisions.

Does the Virtual Care Platform Carry an Additional Cost to the RPM Device?

No, we provide an inclusive, professional service where Wanda Health RPM devices are pre-programmed to connect with the virtual care platform. Within the platform, doctors or physicians can review the patient’s most recent readings, track changes or trends, and identify where there are improvements or declines that require attention.

For patients, the virtual care platform is an opportunity to engage with their care planning, see quantifiable evidence of how their readings are improving, and access educational information to augment their understanding of what their health data means.
